Shiney!

Dunno how this one passed me by but these are fantastic
I’ve got a HTPC running my living room which is plugged into my amp and I’ve been playing my music collection on it by controlling it with the funky Remote app on the iPhone.
I’ve also got some micro hifi separates in my bedroom. One Airport Express later and I can now stream my whole collection to it and also control it with my iPhone with the funky album art interface and everything!
The best part is that I think there was recently an update to Remote which means you can even select which speaker system you want to use, or even use both!
My Dad recently kitted out their house with Sonos stuff and other than being able to play different music in different rooms at the same time, you can do pretty much everything including streaming radio, but for about £800 cheaper
Much recommended if you’ve got the core already of a similar set up.

This is definitely not as much fun as going up, but I’ve managed to lose 11 pounds so far to get back into “Healthy” section of the BMI chart. I’ve not really dieted, but I haven’t eaten any takeaway since Xmas and have been in the gym about 4 times a week.
The plan is to lose about 12 more pounds which would take me back to what I was at 21, and smack bang in the middle of the healthy weight bracket for my height.
It is actually true that you feel better if you exercise, rather than sitting round all day in your pants eating pizza.

Everyone seems to have stopped blogging lately. I’m wondering if they are all a bit 2006 :p
Cooking is going OK still! I can go about 5 things now and tend to just rotate between them. On a bid to get fit and healthy though, Claire doing a lot of it at the moment and and doing some awesomely tasty and healthy food far better than I can cook. We’ve also both started going to a really nice health club which is better than anywhere I’ve been before and definitely worth the extra cash and travel. If anyone wants a free trial, let me know as I’ve got a referral benefit
Other than that, I’ve been doing a fair bit with The Wires and we’ve just finished recording our first track which you can download here.
So yeah, things are pretty decent at the moment and hopefully will stay that way assuming the credit crunch doesn’t bankrupt my work!

After eating like crap for a good few months, I’ve just done the first (of many!) weeks in cooking things from scratch using only base ingredients. The highlights this week was Chille Con Carne and the first roast I’ve ever done!
Someone told me an awesome trick for the potatoes. Boil them for 5-10 minutes but before you put them in the oven, drain the water from the pot, put the lid on and shake them all round. This makes them nice and fluffy, like you get in posh restaurants

Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay

he other week I went for a night out in Winchester. What would normally be a nice 15 minute train journey turned into a slow drawn out affair as there were engineers on the tracks after Eastleigh meaning the second leg had to be done on the bus.
As the bus pulled in, I found myself at the front of the queue - Result as it was clear that the bus was going to fill and some people would have to wait for the next one.
I sat down and watched as other people began to get on the bus. After a while a slight twinge of paranoia stuck - It seemed apparent that while all of the spare seats were beginning to fill up, noone seemed to be taking the one next to me.
Finally, there were only 2 seats left. A girl got onto the bus. She clocked what was left available. In addition to the one next to me, there was one a few rows up with more limited leg room next to a tramp who looked whacked out on skag and stank of piss.
I think you can guess the rest of this sorry tale.

Remember when you got all excited about Star Wars Episode 1 after the 20 year gap?
Remember the disappointment when you watched it and realised how shit it was?
Remember how that was compounded by the gayness of JarJar Binks?
That’s what it’s like watching the new Indiana Jones film. I don’t even download it to be honest.

Had a wander round Newcastle, then off for a pint or 4 and over to watch Middlesbrough get through to the Quarter Finals of the FA cup. Shame I didn’t have the camera there as we were 3 rows from the front and could have got some awesome shots!

12 miles is a lot longer walking through bog in 40mph winds than it seems driving down the M27 :p
