he other week I went for a night out in Winchester. What would normally be a nice 15 minute train journey turned into a slow drawn out affair as there were engineers on the tracks after Eastleigh meaning the second leg had to be done on the bus.
As the bus pulled in, I found myself at the front of the queue - Result as it was clear that the bus was going to fill and some people would have to wait for the next one.
I sat down and watched as other people began to get on the bus. After a while a slight twinge of paranoia stuck - It seemed apparent that while all of the spare seats were beginning to fill up, noone seemed to be taking the one next to me.
Finally, there were only 2 seats left. A girl got onto the bus. She clocked what was left available. In addition to the one next to me, there was one a few rows up with more limited leg room next to a tramp who looked whacked out on skag and stank of piss.
I think you can guess the rest of this sorry tale.
Had a wander round Newcastle, then off for a pint or 4 and over to watch Middlesbrough get through to the Quarter Finals of the FA cup. Shame I didn’t have the camera there as we were 3 rows from the front and could have got some awesome shots!
I’ve just managed to jump onto an unsecured wifi connection to post this and upload some pics. The fact that someone in the middle of this town of <100 people has broadband and a wireless connection is actually fairly impressive. Perhaps it's one of the sheep.
There is no mobile signal here. No calls from work, nice booze, great scenery, plenty of sheep - FANTASTIC
Went for a 6 mile walk yesterday and going to double to 12 tomorrow. It's not as hard as I thought and thankfully there is a pub stop half way round. We went to Whitby today and I look a few pics. All up on my Flickr and more to follow tomorrow.
Wifi signal can be described as flaky at best so there may or may not be contact until I'm back - Enjoy folks
After a month without playing any xbox 360, I thought I’d fire it up to get into Halo 3. After about 5 mins the whole thing just froze. On the reboot, it started freezing on the dashboard before the game even started up. Not a massive suprise as it’s a release day xbox and they all have a design fault. Last thing to try was to unplug everything, leave it all overnight and see what happened - Unsuprisingly it was the same.
Back to Microsoft then for a replacement? Well perhaps there is one more trick to try first. Crazy though it sounds someone suggested unplugging everything bar the power lead and leaving it on for 30 mins wrapped up in a couple of towels.
Result - One working Xbox 360 and an afternoons Guitar Hero 3
Finally got the letter through making it official even though I’ve essentially doing the job for a couple of months now. I now have to administrate finance systems as well as production systems and look after the infrastructure. Things so far have been mentally busy but at least I can’t say that I’ve been bored at any point.
On the music front, Geko have pretty much wound down now. It’s probably quite good timing because I don’t have the hours to put into it anymore. I was listening to some of our records the other day and although we’ve allways been much better live than recorded, there is a lot of stuff I’m very proud of and it’s great to have things recorded and video’d to keep the history alive. All is not lost though, as Hannah and me are still very keen to keep going. We’ve hopefully recruited a new drummer and in the new year will be looking to start a new project
