I’ve just managed to jump onto an unsecured wifi connection to post this and upload some pics. The fact that someone in the middle of this town of <100 people has broadband and a wireless connection is actually fairly impressive. Perhaps it's one of the sheep.
There is no mobile signal here. No calls from work, nice booze, great scenery, plenty of sheep - FANTASTIC
Went for a 6 mile walk yesterday and going to double to 12 tomorrow. It's not as hard as I thought and thankfully there is a pub stop half way round. We went to Whitby today and I look a few pics. All up on my Flickr and more to follow tomorrow.
Wifi signal can be described as flaky at best so there may or may not be contact until I'm back - Enjoy folks
After a month without playing any xbox 360, I thought I’d fire it up to get into Halo 3. After about 5 mins the whole thing just froze. On the reboot, it started freezing on the dashboard before the game even started up. Not a massive suprise as it’s a release day xbox and they all have a design fault. Last thing to try was to unplug everything, leave it all overnight and see what happened - Unsuprisingly it was the same.
Back to Microsoft then for a replacement? Well perhaps there is one more trick to try first. Crazy though it sounds someone suggested unplugging everything bar the power lead and leaving it on for 30 mins wrapped up in a couple of towels.
Result - One working Xbox 360 and an afternoons Guitar Hero 3
Finally got the letter through making it official even though I’ve essentially doing the job for a couple of months now. I now have to administrate finance systems as well as production systems and look after the infrastructure. Things so far have been mentally busy but at least I can’t say that I’ve been bored at any point.
On the music front, Geko have pretty much wound down now. It’s probably quite good timing because I don’t have the hours to put into it anymore. I was listening to some of our records the other day and although we’ve allways been much better live than recorded, there is a lot of stuff I’m very proud of and it’s great to have things recorded and video’d to keep the history alive. All is not lost though, as Hannah and me are still very keen to keep going. We’ve hopefully recruited a new drummer and in the new year will be looking to start a new project
Even though a fair amount has happened lately, I haven’t really felt motivated to write about it! Me and Joy split up a while back which is a shame in ways but ultimately good for both of us. On a more positive note though, I got a promotion at work which is cool, although I’m very busy at the moment. I don’t really think blogs are for talking about big things though. If you want to know more about that then talk about it over a pint
Day of exchange and the buyer pulls out. That means the estate agents have to try and chase up other people who put in offers, but they’ve probably found somewhere else by now. Failing that it means we have to find a new buyer and unless it happens quickly, it puts the whole purchase in jeapordy as well.
The sooner the system is changed to tie people in more with at least a small deposit the better
Well Shelley has finally made a decent man of Mark! The big day went of with without a hitch due to months of careful preparation by Mark and Shelley and everyone I have spoken to had a wonderful time and was very greatful for all their hard work.
Despite some last minute speech nerves it was an honour to be part of such an important day in their lives and I hope I didn’t stitch you up too much fella
Highlights included Suze waking up Mark at 2.30am because we locked ourselves out (and subsequently immediately found the key), ending up in the only chavy pub in the whole of Wiltshire, Shelley’s request for more compliments during Mark’s speech and the whole event being generally awesome and everyone having a great time.
Transformers the movie is ace. Seriously ace as well.
If you’re around my age, you must have been into transformers when you were a kid (unless you weren’t cool). This could go two ways though. Although you have high expectations, if the film doesn’t live up to them, you’re going to be really dissapointed. Thankfully, that isn’t the case though.
The CGI is awesome. Everything feels right, the way the robots transform, their size and weight are all spot on. The plot is also really interesting. In a lot of modern day adaptions of cartoons/comics it feels like they have just been made for the sake of it and the plot is almost an afterthought, but not so here. The only minor criticism is the need to get a teenage love story in which digs into the massive robot fighting action. Transformers doesn’t take itself too seriously though. There is a lot of humour in there, and it’s funny as well. The bit where the autobots are all hiding outside the house is fantastic. Some of the best lines from the cartoon series are there as well. “One shall stand, one shall fall” and the Optimus Prime’s speech at the end made Joy cry :p
Definately one for the cinema. Brave it through the hordes of blinged up chavs queuing outside Leisure World and the mating calls of revving Novas with every tacky Halfords accessory attached.
Oh, Megatron transforms into a plane though, not a gun. Not sure what that is about.
